Dear NHF Member and Friend of Health Freedom,
In just a few weeks – from November 2–6, 2026 – the Codex Committee on Nutrition and Foods for Special Dietary Uses (CCNFSDU45) will meet in Nuremberg, Germany. The City’s name alone carries heavy weight regarding ethical decisions, and decisions made in that room will shape the nutrient standards and supplement guidelines that governments around the World look to when writing their own rules, regulations, and laws.
The National Health Federation is the only health-freedom organization with an official seat at Codex. We are the lone health-freedom consumer voice in a room dominated by national regulators and industry interests with their front groups. For more than two decades we have fought — successfully — to keep Nutrient Reference Values from being driven down to levels that leave children and adults undernourished, and to protect your access to higher-potency vitamin and mineral supplements.
THE BATTLES WE MUST FIGHT THIS NOVEMBER
1. Nutrient Reference Values for Children (6–36 months)
The Committee will finalize remaining NRVs-R. If the lowest proposed numbers prevail, children worldwide will be left with official “reference” values that fail to support optimal growth, immune function, and neurological development. NHF is submitting a formal Conference Room Document demanding the highest scientifically defensible values — values that cover the full population, including those who need more.
2. Guidelines for Vitamin & Mineral Food Supplements (CXG 55-2005)
A new-work proposal seeks to “review and revise” the existing Codex guidelines on vitamin and mineral supplements. History shows that such reviews often become vehicles for introducing maximum levels, restrictive composition rules, or pharmaceutical-style oversight. NHF has prepared a Conference Room Document urging the Committee not to open this door — and, if work proceeds, to lock in language that preserves national flexibility and consumer access to higher-potency products.
3. Foods for Older Infants & Young Children
The draft standard under discussion must not lock in low nutrient-density requirements or create barriers to nutritious complementary foods. NHF’s third Conference Room Document insists that compositional criteria align with the highest NRVs and leave room for Member Countries to set higher standards.
